Zircon 5A

Zircon 5A is a quality rating for Zirconia stones (Zirconia or Zircon), which is a type of synthetic gemstone very similar to a diamond in terms of brilliance and sparkle – and is often used as a cheap substitute for a diamond or moissanite.

What is Zircon 5A?

  • Zirconia – a synthetic gemstone that looks very shiny and clear, very popular in the jewelry market.

  • The number 5A indicates the quality grade of the stone – among the quality grades of synthetic gemstones, 5A is one of the highest grades. This means that the stone is transparent, flawless, with a high-quality cut and good sparkle.

  • In terms of brilliance, Zircon 5A is less brilliant and has lower light dispersion compared to moissanite and diamond, but still looks very good to the unprofessional eye.

Differences between Zircon, Moissanite, and Diamond:

  • Diamond: The most expensive, hardest, most durable.

  • Moissanite: A luxurious synthetic stone with a stronger sparkle than zircon, very high hardness, very good durability.

  • Zircon 5A: Cheaper, looks very shiny but less durable and hard, suitable for cheaper jewelry or temporary use.
